Seeds of my thoughts
With seeds of my thoughts carried in wind,
I seat my frame atop this hill, within this view,
and am thankful for the beauty in this realm.
Straw coloured blades flicker and sway,
in air that passes my ear, in softness and whispers.
The afternoon sun warms my cheek
and on my shoulder rests its comforting embrace.
Between wavering heads in faded gold and tan,
knapweed, ragwort and daisies return my gaze
with smile and cheer, whilst crickets chirp far and near.
And clinging to life; saplings of oak and hawthorn,
that planted themselves in open ground,
stake their place amongst the dry seed heads,
yet to reveal life and burst forth.
And I reflect on my self and what has come and what has not,
that I learn patience and lean not on my own understanding,
as the seeds tomorrow will bring are yet to come.
