Camargue and Provence

Photographs of the Camargue were taken on a winter’s day just before a storm that was followed by torrential rain. Gathering clouds enhanced the mood around the fire damaged and abandoned buildings next to the treacherous shoreline. The handrail going out to sea in Camargue Quicksand is likely there to help those foolish enough to venture out get back to the shore. Images of Provence such as Fog on the Rhône at Barrage de Vallabrègues were taken on a following day. The photographs themselves were taken a decade earlier but in 2022 they were worked on to achieve the look they have now which might be compared to what was known as solarisation in the time of analogue film. They are akin to Alice walking through the looking glass, to a parallel space.
